Fishers Police Investigate Fatal Crash on 116th Street

(Fishers, Indiana) – Fishers police investigate a fatal motor vehicle crash on 116th Street near Belle Plaine Blvd.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 17th the Fishers Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a blue Mercedes passenger car and a white Toyota passenger car. Upon arrival officers observed both vehicles in the eastbound lanes of 116th Street. The Toyota was fully engulfed in flames. The driver, of the Mercedes, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital by Paramedics from the Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Based on evidence gathered at the scene and witness statements the crash occurred when the Mercedes struck the rear of the Toyota. During the initial investigation probable cause was established to believe the driver of the Mercedes was intoxicated at the time of the crash. After receiving medical treatment, the suspect was transported to the Hamilton County Jail without incident.

                        A charge is merely an accusation and the arrested person(s) is presumed innocent until proven guilty
