Fishers, IN – In honor of National Sustainability Month, the City of Fishers will host Keep Fishers Beautiful (KFB), bringing together residents, homeowner’s associations, local businesses, and organizations to support the vibrancy of the city and its neighborhoods. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, April 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various parks throughout the community, including Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve, Roy G. Holland Memorial Park, Brooks School Park, Flat Fork Creek Park, and Heritage Park at White River.

“Spring Service Day and Keep Fishers Beautiful are key elements in creating inviting and vibrant parks and natural areas in Fishers,” said Mayor Scott Fadness. “The dedication of our volunteers to spend their time and hard work is what brings our community together to create a sense of pride.”

In its fourth year, KFB has connected over 1,000 volunteers to service projects at various parks, greenspaces, and neighborhoods around Fishers.

Tony Elliot, Director of Fishers Parks & Recreation, added, “The impact from the day of the event is extraordinary, but its lasting legacy is the community engagement and ongoing volunteer efforts that it continues to inspire year-round.”

There are several ways the community can participate:

  • Group Volunteer Projects: Businesses and organizations are invited to help beautify Fishers’ parks and greenspaces by mulching, removing trash from public spaces, and more.
  • Spring Service Day at Ritchey Woods: Spring Service Day returns to protect Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve’s (10410 Hague Road) native wildflowers from invasive plant species. Register ahead of time or in person at the rain or shine event.
  • City Recycling Day: Fishers offers a free recycling day at Billericay Park (12690 Promise Road) for residents, where electronics, household items, and hazardous wastes are accepted. Paper recycling and off site confidential document shredding is also available.
  • Neighborhood Blitz Boxes: Fishers neighborhoods can beautify their common spaces and facades through the Blitz Box program, which includes a small supply of gloves, garbage bags, and the use of a 30-yard dumpster. Applications are accepted year-round.

All ages are welcome to participate, and volunteers will receive a tree seedling in honor of Arbor Day. For more information and to sign up to volunteer, visit playfishers.com/kfb
