Fishers, IN – More than 105,000 people enjoyed music at the Nickel Plate District amphitheater in 2015. Just announced today, the 2016 summer concert line-up is poised to crush that record with a diverse mix of offerings for fans of all ages, and…it’s all free.
“We are proud to offer such a high quality, free concert line-up in the heart of downtown Fishers,” said Tony Elliot, Parks & Recreation Department Director. “This has been a tradition in the community for more than 13 years, but 2016 is sure to be the best, most diverse year yet.”
The summer concert series includes the Tuesday Night Concerts presented by IU Health Saxony, the Amp After Dark concerts on Friday nights, and specialty acts on select Saturdays. A few highlights from the line-up include:
• Jamestown Revival – Jun. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
• The Wild Feathers – Jul. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
• Jennie DeVoe – Jul. 15 at 9 p.m.
• Dogs of Society: A tribute to the music of Elton John – Jul. 22 at 9 p.m.
• Carrie Newcomer – Aug. 19 at 9 p.m.
Music fans and visitors to the Nickel Plate District are encouraged to download the Nickel Plate District App for detailed information on start times, musical acts and special promotions from local businesses.
“The Nickel Plate District really comes to life during the summer months, and visitors are in for a real treat this year,” said Mayor Scott Fadness. “Not only are there free music options for people of all walks of life, but the amenities in downtown offer unique places to gather, eat and shop. I encourage visitors to explore the Nickel Plate District by foot or bicycle this summer and enjoy.”
The full concert line-up can be found on the City of Fishers’ website at www.fishers.in.us/2016SummerConcerts or the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater Facebook page. Concert times vary by day of the week. While concert-goers are invited to bring their own food and drink to most shows, on-site food trucks and beer vendors are great options too.
