Fishers, (Indiana) – Yesterday evening an alert driver helped police catch a man accused of breaking into a car on 96th Street and using a stolen card at the Fishers’ Super Walmart.
The driver was traveling on State Road 37 when she observed the suspect throw a wallet out of the window of his gold Chevrolet Impala. She thought it was suspicious so she followed the Impala until it entered the Sunlake Apartment Complex. She flagged down an off-duty Fishers police officer and reported what she had witnessed.
Additional officers searched the area locating the Impala and the suspect. While speaking with the suspect, the officers located additional stolen property in his possession. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail without incident. The stolen property was returned to the rightful owner.
This incident is a perfect example of the See Something, Say Something mentality that the police department encourages all residents to maintain. Chief of Police George Kehl stated, “Members of the community are a valuable resource for the police department.” “Immediately reporting suspicious activity helps us detect and deter criminal activity”, Kehl continued.
