(Fishers, Indiana) – The Fishers Police Department is investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon near the intersection of Brooks School Road and Club Point. The crash involved a motorcycle and sport utility vehicle.

According to witnesses and evidence at the scene it appears the 2001 Yamaha R6 was traveling southbound on Brooks School Road behind two sport utility vehicles. As they approached the intersection the motorcyclist, James Douglas, crossed the double yellow line passing the two SUVs as they slowed to turn west onto Club Point. At this time a 2004 Mercedes ML350 exited Club Point turning northbound onto Brooks School Road. The driver of the Mercedes, Morgan Lacy, did not see the motorcycle traveling southbound in the northbound lane and was unable to avoid the collision. Upon impact Mr. Douglas was ejected from the motorcycle and as a result suffered serious injury. Mr. Douglas was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded and transported Mr. Douglas to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Ms. Lacy was not injured in the crash.

The Fishers Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team responded to collect evidence and investigate the crash. At this time it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
