Does your sewer bill not show last month’s payment as received, but you know you sent payment? 

Please make sure you are paying to the correct utility (sewer account and not your stormwater account), ensure you sent payment to the correct PO Box, and are using the correct account number. You can log in to our payment portal to see if your payment did indeed post, but was just late (and after the most recent bill run). If paying by check, please allow enough time for payment to get to the PO Box before the due date. 

If you set up ACH/EFT draft in our new online portal, but there wasn’t enough time before the due date for the system to validate your new payment details, then 3 days before THIS month’s due date, the TOTAL amount due (2 months worth) will automatically be deducted and you’ll be caught up and on track for future payments. No action is required. You can check your portal account to see when it successfully is paid. 

Did you receive your Stormwater bill and have questions?

Your stormwater account number is different than your sewer account number. If you plan to pay online or through your bank, you MUST be sure to use your STORMWATER account numbers and PO Box address (listed on your bill) to ensure proper credit. Funds cannot be transferred between accounts. If using our payment portal, after logging in, you’ll need to click “LINK TO ACCOUNT” and input the account number and customer ID from your STORMWATER bill separately from your sewer account in the portal. How do I find out if I am set up for ACH/EFT draft or autopay on my sewer bill? 

Your Fishers Utilities bills will not state if you are set up on ACH/EFT draft or autopay. You can check this status for each of your accounts (sewer and stormwater) by logging in to our portal. It will note if you have ACH/EFT set up for each specific account.

What is stormwater?

The stormwater utility handles run-off water such as rain, watering systems, etc., to keep your yard and street from flooding.

How is my stormwater fee calculated?

Single-family residential, condos, and unimproved lot stormwater utilities are calculated at a flat rate approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC). Commercial property stormwater rates are calculated based on stormwater engineer assessments.

What does my stormwater fee go toward?

Funds collected through the yearly stormwater bill are used for storm sewer improvements and maintenance, drainage, flood control projects and studies, street sweeping, water quality improvement projects, waterway cleanups, twice-annual city recycling days for hazardous waste materials, National Flood Insurance Program Management, construction project plan review and inspection, private drainage and water quality issue matching grants, the free rain barrel program, and citywide stormwater-related environmental compliance.

How often is stormwater billed?

Residential stormwater is billed annually. Commercial stormwater is billed quarterly.

Why isn’t my stormwater paid through my property taxes/HOA/monthly sewer bill?

The stormwater bill isn’t a tax, but rather a utility service. In some communities, this is included in property tax bills or HOA fees, however, in Fishers, it is billed separately. Some common-area properties will receive a stormwater bill and will be paid through your HOA. The stormwater and sewer utilities are billed and recorded separately.

Why do I have to pay for stormwater service if I have a retention pond or a private drainage system?

Water runoff into the Fishers stormwater system occurs even with these additional stormwater management efforts.

What are payment options?

  • By mail: Send to P.O. Box 2365, Indianapolis, IN 46206. No fee applies. Include the remittance coupon attached to this billing statement and your account number in the memo line.
  • EFT or ACH: access your online account at No convenience fee applies.
  • eCheck: A $1.95 fee applies.
  • Bank or Credit Union: use your financial institution's bill pay services. Processing payments through your financial institution will add additional processing time for payments due to bank processing. Convenience fees will be determined by your financial institution.
